As mentioned in a previous blog, the CBS, FOX, and NBC stations made the switch to digital early -- in December 2008. As a subscriber to an MVPD service -- DirecTV I woke up the day of the switch and still could get my locals. But, DirecTV doesn't carry our local channels in HD so to get HD programming I have an antenna hooked up to my DirecTV receiver. It then loads in my local digital channels and allows me to access them through the interactive program guide. So Sunday comes around and I go to watch a football game in HD and nothing is there where last week it came in beautifully. Ah-ha -- when the Fox station went to all digital it moved from channel 30 to channel 20. DirecTV thought it was still on channel 30. I tried to re-scan -- 30 was still showing up instead of 20. I emailed customer service, I checked the FAQs, finally after numerous email exchanges and a phone call -- I re-scanned and there was channel 20! Turns out the information hadn't been updated and my older receiver needed it. Actually, not that big of a deal -- just a little annoying. But I and practically everyone I know still can't get the ABC and public station in over the air. Lost is better in HD.
